Born in a small town outside of Mexico City, Oscar became the newest generation to learn metalart artistry. Passed from grandfather to father to son, each adding their own new ideas and techniques. On coming to the US in 1998, Oscar then met me, Dawn with my own artistic talents, in the decorating field. In 2000 we married and pooled our talents. Together we have combined old world craftsmanship with todays trends to create many wonderful items to grace your homes. This year makes it eleven years since starting this aspect of our teamwork. We have met many wonderful clients and have enjoyed expanding our business along the western region, shipping items as far as Germany and France. This year we are starting with many new changes Dawn's daughters, Desiree and Lisa who were both helping with the painting have both moved on, Desiree has quite a commute now that she is attending Long Beach State, majoring in Art (of course) we will miss their help, and at the shows we will miss both Sandy, with a new baby boy (Riley) and Ashley who has found a new job and a new love, she plans to stay closer to home, now that she is engaged. We do still have his brother Sergio and cousin Andres helping us keep up with the demand. Over the last 11 years Oscar has had the honor of receiving several awards for his work 1998 First Place Metal Fiesta de Artes Hermosa Beach Ca 1990 Best of Show Harvest Festivals 2002 First place Metal Art Fest Henderson Nv And just this year we were very proud to receive the 2007 Invitational Circle Award from Tapestry Arts in San Jose this last September, making this two consecutive years for this award. And in Sabha home show we received Best of Hall. Oscar has also been written up in the newspaper several times. One of the biggest projects this past year has been opening our new gallery, a dream we have had for some time, and after all the work it has become a reality. Check out the News Page. As we head into our 18th year, we at times wonder where the time has gone and we look forward to the future with excitement. Our work has grown and changed over the years thanks in part to our clientel, your requests have challenged us, expanded our minds and given us new directions to travel. And although at times we feel like gypsies, on the road from one show to another, we love what we do, and love meeting new friends. Please come see us soon at one of many locations. Check our list of shows for one near you. |
